Biography;

Hikari Masunaga is a Japanese artist, illustrator and designer, currently based in Auckland, New Zealand. In 2007, she moved to New Zealand, and has completed her degree at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design in 2014, and currently studying Creative Technologies at Media Design School.

She has exhibited and volunteered her artworks at Japanese Art Festival in 2013, in the same year, she has completed 3D animation short course at New Zealand School of Education. She has volunteerily worked at Ocula, AZITO, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, and Hashtag Media(closed). She has exhibited her works in group exhibitions, 33.431441º, 169.101563º in 2013 and Four Days Notice in 2014, both in Pearce Gallery, Auckland.

Hikari Masunaga’s art is motivated by her interests in technology, cultures, and perceptions. Her works often create conversations about transitional reality striving to provide experiences carried by various aesthetics and media formats. Originated from such technologically advanced country as Japan, she is fascinated by the beauty of new media and its culture such as computational linguistics, networks and interactivity.
